HGSC ETHOS AND COACHING PHILOSOPHY

  • To provide football for all children / young people of all ages and abilities in a fun and safe environment.
  • To promote good behavior and respect for others.
  • To ensure all players play within the rules of the game.
  • Promote the importance of teamwork.
  • Try your best, play to win but not at the cost of development.
  • Train hard and always listen to coaches and managers.
  • Players/Parents to always respect Managers/Coaches Decisions.
  • Players to put 100% effort into training and matches.
  • Foundation Phase (5-10 years) Equal game time for all is required.
  • Youth Development Phase (players aged 11-16) is competitive, so time on pitch may vary, depending on the game itself. Completely managers/coaches decision.
  • Aim for everyone to be the best they can be.
  • Aim for a development pathway for all up to and including Semi–professional / Professional Football.

Hall Green Sports Club follows the FA Four Corner Model for long-term player development, with age- appropriate coaching delivery for the Foundation Phase (players aged 5-11), the Youth Development Phase (players aged 12-16) and the Professional Development Phase (players aged 18-21). More information on these FA four corner models can be found on the FA website.

The FA Four Corner Model

The FA Four Corner Model was also developed by The FA to support coaches with their planning and delivery of football coaching sessions. The FA’s aim was to ensure that young players were being coached to not only develop technically, but to develop as whole people.

In order to make the model easily usable for all levels of coaching, the Four Corners are broken down into four colors:

Red – Technical/Tactical
Green – Psychological
Yellow – Physical
Blue – Social

The characteristics of each of the Four Corners are defined as:

  • Technical/Tactical – Football related skills; control, passing, dribbling, shooting and support play.
  • Psychological – Mental attributes; decision making, enjoyment and spatial awareness.
  • Physical – Movement within the game; sprinting, turning, jumping, acceleration, agility and strength.
  • Social – Interactions with other players; communication, teamwork, friendship and encouraging others.
